UTICA-ROME — Former longtime WOUR personality Alison, who exited the rock station’s lineup when it was sold from Clear Channel to Galaxy Communications in 2007, is now back on the radio.

UTICA/ROME — There’s cause for celebration at Galaxy Communications: the company was named “Business of the Year” by the Mohawk Valley Chamber of Commerce.  The Syracuse-based broadcaster, which owns six stations in the Utica-Rome market, was named the winner among businesses with 50 or fewer employees.

SYRACUSE — Tommy Nast of the former 94 Rock (present-day Y94FM / WYYY) was back in town last night, recounting some of the battles he waged against 95X (WAQX) back when the two stations were bitter rivals. Nast spoke at the Syracuse Area Music Awards (SAMMYs) Hall of Fame induction ceremony last night.

INDIANAPOLIS — First they were on the radio, then they were also on cable TV. Now, the nationally-synduicated Bob & Tom Show, carried locally in Syracuse and Watertown, and formerly in Utica, is back to being a radio-only show.

UTICA-ROME — Stew Schantz, who once served as Operations Manager of Clear Channel’s former Utica-Rome cluster, has passed away at the age of 53.  He most recently was working as OM and afternoon driver at WUPE in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.  Anonymous sources say Schantz died Friday morning, of complications following a heart attack Thursday night. UTICA-ROME — Galaxy Communications has announced former Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts and his current band, Great Southern, will headline the schedule at Classic Rock 96.9 WOUR’s “Party in the Park” concert on July 21. Admission is free and a number of local bands are also expected to perform.
