BOLTON LANDING – As announced in April, WSYR-TV anchor team Rod Wood and Carrie Lazarus were inducted into the New York State Broadcasters Hall of Fame last night. But they weren’t the only Central New Yorkers taking awards home from the NYSBA’s annual Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting.

Updated 10:50pm -- SYRACUSE -- No confirmation directly from management, but CNYTVNews.com has obtained a copy of an email memo stating reporter Jennifer Lewke has resigned from ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV). Earlier today, Lewke's photo disappeared from the talent list on the station's website.
SYRACUSE -- Almost two weeks following the sudden resignation of longtime News Director Jim Tortora, ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) has officially posted an opening for a News Director on its website. Among other requirements, the announcement requires candidates have at least five years of news management experience.
SYRACUSE -- After a week off, the Picture of the Week is back with a combo you don't see together every day. Former NewsChannel 9 anchor-turned-"Bridge Street" co-host Julie Abbott came out of retirement to join WSYR radio afternoon host Jim Reith to host the Syracuse Press Club's annual scholarship and awards dinner last weekend.
Updated 5/19 -- SYRACUSE -- According to multiple sources, Jim Tortora has exited NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) after more than a decade at the station. We're told General Manager Theresa Underwood sent an email memo to staff on Monday afternoon, thanking Tortora for his time with the station, and wishing him well in the future.
SYRACUSE -- Top journalists from Syracuse and surrounding markets gathered for the Syracuse Press Club's 33rd annual Scholarship and Professional Recognition Awards Dinner last night at Drumlins Country Club in Syracuse. Public stations WRVO and WAER dominated the radio categories, while there were plenty of ties for winners in the television categories.
SYRACUSE -- According to the Syracuse Press Club's April newsletter, released via email today, reporter Kelly Quinn is leaving NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) to enjoy "the more regular hours of public relations."
FULTON -- It wasn't on your calendar, but this past Wednesday was officially "Christie Casciano Day" in the City of Fulton. The mayor presented Casciano with the proclamation on Wednesday evening, as she hosted an annual ceremony commending heroic actions of the emergency workers who serve the city.
