Arrangements for "Uncle" Fred Horton have been set for this Saturday, March 15, at 1pm, at Calvary Chapel in Liverpool [Google Map]. Horton, whose career included stops at WSEN, WYYY and WRUN, died March 4th in Erie, Pennsylvania. His obituary appeared in today's Syracuse Post-Standard.

Update (3/9/08): Service Arrangements and obituary "Uncle" Fred Horton passed away Tuesday morning in Erie, PA, according to AllAccess.com. Horton most recently worked for WXTA there, and formerly worked at WSEN. His family has established a memorial fund to cover medical expenses.

From the "better late than never" file, AllAccess.com reports that WIBX has signed a deal to carry live coverage of Utica College sports. Former Clear Channel "Sports Stars Network" personalities Dave Peroni and Fred Miller will serve as commentators.
Galaxy Communications tells the Utica Observer-Dispatch it's had plenty of success with two of the stations it acquired from Clear Channel in 2007. The company also announced plans to bring its Gomez & Dave simulcast back to the Utica-Rome market.

UTICA - Former ClearChannel "Sports Stars" stations WUTQ (1550AM) and WADR (1480AM) have flipped to a new "Beautiful Music" format, under its new owner, Roser Communications.
