OSWEGO -- Nearly 7 months after John Krauss retired as GM of the WRVO stations, SUNY Oswego has named his replacement. Dr. Michael S. Ameigh, a longtime professor and assistant provost at the college, has been tapped to become the NPR affiliate's third GM since it debuted in 1969.

UTICA-ROME -- Two of the three men who fell from a Smith Hill broadcast tower on Monday have been released from the hospital... and one of the workers has already returned to climb the tower again.
WASHINGTON -- The FCC's Media Bureau announced a temporary freeze on applications for new digital low-power television (LPTV) stations and TV translators "in so-called 'rural areas,'" effective immediately. The agency says holding those apps will allow staffers to focus on efforts to make more room for mobile broadband.
SYRACUSE -- Local PBS affiliate WCNY-TV has completed a locally-produced documentary that details work scientists and military personnel are performing in Greeland to study climate change. The program, Artic Air: A Greenlandic Journey with the 109th, will debut on Monday, November 8.
UTICA-ROME -- One addition to our earlier coverage of the mishap on the tower at WKTV on Smith Hill -- another radio station, 92.7 The Drive (WXUR) was taken off the air for a few hours.
SYRACUSE -- Before Stephanie Miller and Bill Press met up in Ithaca for an appearance geared toward listeners of that market's WNYY... Miller hosted her nationally-syndicated show live from the studios of Syracuse affiliate 105.9 The Big Talker (WXTL) on Friday.
SYRACUSE -- Notice anything missing from the newscasts at Newsradio 570 WSYR? Starting today, we're told most newscasts will be completely locally-anchored. This is as opposed to the previous format, in which a national update from Fox News Radio would precede the local content.
Updated 10/26 at 8:00am -- UTICA-ROME -- NBC affiliate WKTV says three workers who fell from a transmission tower outside the station's Smith Hill studios this morning are expected to be okay. "None of the injuries are considered to be life threatening," the station reported on its website, and one of the three workers has already been released from the hospital.
OSWEGO -- Even though SUNY Oswego's Communication Studies Alumni Reunion dinner didn't start until 7pm last Saturday, many arrived on campus earlier in the day for a panel discussion, followed by a tour of the school's recently-improved broadcasting facilities.
