ITHACA -- ESPN Radio 1160 (WPIE) has an opening for an operations manager and program director.  The position also includes some on-air responsibilities, including some play-by-play of local sports, and hosting the station's hour-long "Between the Lines" show every weekday afternoon.  We've got the full job description from GM Todd Mallinson:

SYRACUSE -- Former WSTM-TV sports director Roger Springfield will be on probation for five years, after admitting he secretly videotaped student athletes in locker rooms while working as media director for Syracuse University Athletics. This morning's court sentence allows Springfield to avoid having to register as a sex offender.

SYRACUSE -- The building housing Clear Channel's Syracuse cluster studios and offices has a new owner. Developer Robert Congel sold the Bridgewater Place building at 500 Plum Street last week for $7.09 million to a group of investors identifying themselves as 500 Plum St. LLC.

SYRACUSE -- When Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications finishes its $18 million overhaul of its "Newhouse 2" building, the studios within will be named after Dick Clark.  The widow of the legendary broadcaster announced the honor during Newhouse's annual Mirror Awards on Wednesday.

SYRACUSE -- At least two low-power television stations are looking to expand their reach across the Syracuse metropolitan area.  That's according to recent filings with the Federal Communications Commission, which are required when stations want to changes to their existing broadcast licenses.

CORTLAND -- The fiery breath of "90.5 The Dragon" (WSUC-FM) will soon cover more territory beyond the SUNY Cortland campus.  The station -- which also serves as a part-time repeater of Oswego-based NPR news/talk affiliate WRVO -- is well on its way to gaining final FCC approval for an increase in transmission power.

SYRACUSE -- Tickets go on sale this Saturday for Krockathon 18, which will be held on July 27 at the New York State Fairgrounds.  Chevelle, Sevendust and All That Remains are just three of the 11 bands who were announced by K-Rock (WKRL/WKRH/WKLL) today, and the stations promise "more" to be announced prior to the concert date.

SYRACUSE -- Even though our latest Picture of the Week was taken just a little under two years ago, it's already got some upstate New York broadcast history in there.  It's a shot of the regional master control facility inside of NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV).  Take a close look at the photo, and see if you can spot why it's historic.  If not, we'll explain.

UTICA-ROME -- Tower site vandalism is to blame for a full week -- and counting -- of silence from talk radio station WUTI 1150AM.  The damage was so extensive, officials with Leatherstocking Media Group say repairs on the Oriskany transmitter site could take another three weeks.
