UTICA-ROME -- Longtime local radio personality Jerry "The Doctor" Kraus has a new full-time job. Although it's expected he'll keep his weekend gig at 92.7 The Drive (WXUR), Kraus has just been named Executive Director of the Stanley Center for the Arts.
Updated 5:15pm -- UTICA-ROME -- After nearly 21 years with 96.9 WOUR, afternoon drive host "Genesee Joe" Trisolino handed in his notice last night. Today, it was announced he's joining the staff at 92.7 The Drive (WXUR), effective immediately.
UTICA-ROME -- For thirty years, he was known as "The Doctor" in afternoon drive on WOUR. That ended in 2007, when Clear Channel eliminated most of WOUR's staff just before the company sold its cluster to current owner Galaxy Communications. Today, locally-owned Arjuna Broadcasting announced Kraus is returning to 92.7 The Drive (WXUR).
UTICA-ROME -- This past weekend marked the 31st running of "America's Biggest 15K Road Race," the Utica Boilermaker. Every year, the race gets bigger and bigger... and for many years, local media outlets have made it a point to have a presence at the race. Several pictures this week instead of the usual one.
UTICA-ROME -- Former WOUR afternoon drive personality Jerry Kraus announced plans to run for a seat on the City of Utica's Common Council earlier this week.
It's been a little over a year since Clear Channel sold its Utica-Rome cluster to Galaxy Communications. As a result of the sale, several long-time on-air personalities were let go, but at least one has since landed on his feet.
96.9 WOUR officially turned 30 on June 3rd, but the party to celebrate the milestone runs all summer as the Clear Channel rocker has special events planned through September.
