SYRACUSE -- Statewide and regional coverage of Syracuse University Athletics will be expanding almost immediately thanks to a new deal the school has signed with SNY, the sports network that's already well-known for carriage of New York Mets baseball, Jets football, and the Big East Conference.
SYRACUSE -- Public broadcaster WRVO took home First Place in the "Radio Newscast" category at the Syracuse Press Club awards dinner on Saturday night. The Oswego-based NPR affiliate took home four other first-place awards and a second-place title. SYRACUSE -- Sunny 102 (WZUN) morning man "Big Mike" Fiss and NPR's Scott Simon recently shared some of their experiences in broadcasting and journalism with students at F-M's Eagle Hill Middle School. Specifically, Simon spoke about the way technology -- specifically social media -- has impacted journalism.
SYRACUSE -- Today was Alex Silverman's last day at Newsradio 570 WSYR. After two years as an anchor and reporter for the Clear Channel station, Silverman is making a 70-market jump and a 2,700-mile drive west to Seattle.
DETROIT -- After 45 years on the air in the Motor City, Buffalo native and SU graduate Dick Purtan is getting ready to call it a career.
