SYRACUSE -- Sadly, the rumors we reported earlier have become true: Syracuse's first TV station has sent 40+ staffers packing, and the news operations have been "gutted" to a barebones crew. (Updated at 6:25pm)
SYRACUSE -- Even though it's not related to radio (well, it could be, but we'd have to make some awfully long, historic stretches), it's still a pretty big story. Trusted sources tell CNYRadio.com two Syracuse TV stations may be joining forces, in a move that includes one station shutting down its news department.
As part of WSTM TV 3's latest "Best of Central New York" viewer poll, 93Q took away top honors for best radio station. A couple months ago, 570 WSYR's afternoon newscaster Kevin Schenk started appearing as the weekend news anchor over at WSTM-TV 3. Schenk has since given up the radio microphone and is now a full-time member of the channel 3 news staff.
