UTICA-ROME — For thirty years, he was known as “The Doctor” in afternoon drive on WOUR.  That ended in 2007, when Clear Channel eliminated most of WOUR’s staff just before the company sold its cluster to current owner Galaxy Communications.  Today, locally-owned Arjuna Broadcasting announced Kraus is returning to 92.7 The Drive (WXUR).

UTICA-ROME — Officials from locally-owned 92.7 The Drive (WXUR) say they’re excited to be “stepping up” this year to provide “an assisting capacity” for the City of Utica’s Independence Day parade and fireworks show.  As has been the case since 2009, the fireworks will be launched over Proctor Park.

UTICA/ROME — It would be prohibitively expensive for a radio station to bring hundreds of listeners to Key West, so Arjuna Broadcasting’s 92.7 The Drive (WXUR) brought a little bit of Key West recently to Utica.  WXUR’s Jack Moran sent in a photo of the fun for our Picture of the Week.

UTICA/ROME — Dick Nellis, who worked at a number of Mohawk Valley stations including WLFH, WADR, WALY and WUTQ, has passed away.  Nellis, who also worked at stations in the Hudson Valley region south of Albany, was 70.

UTICA-ROME — Former longtime WOUR personality Alison, who exited the rock station’s lineup when it was sold from Clear Channel to Galaxy Communications in 2007, is now back on the radio.

UTICA/ROME — A month and a half after replacing local morning host Bill Keeler with the syndicated Bob and Tom Show, locally-owned 92.7 The Drive (WXUR) is making more big changes.  The station has hired veteran programmer Tom Starr and veteran sales manager Chuck Hebbard.  Changes to the station’s rock format will take effect tomorrow
