SYRACUSE — They’ve been nominated time and time again for the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards, but still no prize for B104.7 (WBBS) morning co-hosts Tom Owens and Becky Palmer.  Meantime, New Country WOLF 105.1 night host Cody Alan is named “Personality of the Year” on the national level.

SYRACUSE — Most of the time, our Pictures of the Week highlight special occasions — celebrity visits, major station events or milestones, and so forth.  But this week, something different: how an unintended coincidence can turn a seemingly-ordinary day at the station into a humorous moment.

OSWEGO — He was the very first voice heard on the air when WRVO signed on more than four decades ago.  Along the way, he served in just about every capacity possible at the station — and this morning, General Manager John Krauss announced he plans to retire at the end of the month. Updated

SYRACUSE and UTICA-ROME —  The trio of Modern Rock KRock stations (WKRL North Syracuse/WKRH Minetto/WKLL Frankfort) is giving listeners direct control over the songs played on the stations every Saturday night.  It’s all made possible by an online voting system launched last summer by Triton Media.

SYRACUSE — Even though her old affiliate, Lite Rock 105.9 (WLTI) is now an all-talk station, Delilah’s still on the air in Syracuse.  Listeners who like to “slow down and love someone” with the popular syndicated hostess just need to slide their radios down to Y94FM (WYYY).

SYRACUSE — A number of changes first announced in December finally took place today.  ESPN Radio has changed its Syracuse affiliation over from Citadel’s WSKO (formerly WNSS) 1260 over to a four-station simulcast including two AMs and two FM translators owned by Galaxy. 

SYRACUSE — CNY Talk Radio (WFBL/WMCR-AM) local midday host Jon Alvarez announced on today’s broadcast that he’s ending his show, effective immediately.   Starting Monday, the stations will fill the time with an extra hour of Laura Ingraham until a permanent replacement is named. SYRACUSE — Geographically, they may be closer to Villanova, Pennsylvania, but spiritually, Big D and Bubba were rooting with the 34,616 fans in the Carrier Dome for the Orange to BEAT NOVA last Saturday night.

SYRACUSE — Jamie “Big Smoothie” Hantke is back on the roster at Citadel rocker 95X (WAQX).  You may remember him as the host of “The People’s Show” weekday evenings in the mid 2000s.  Jacobs recently rejoined the lineup for weekend duty: he’s on Saturdays 10a-3p and Sundays 7a-1p.

OSWEGO — Dave Bullard is back on the airwaves as the new Senior News Reporter/Producer at the WRVO Stations.  He posted the news on his Facebook page last week, he started at the NPR affiliate on Monday and his first story aired today.
