OSWEGO -- SUNY Oswego alum who majored in radio, television, journalism and communication studies programs are invited back to campus for the Communication Studies Alumni Reunion coming up Saturday, October 9. Registrations are due by October 1st.
SYRACUSE -- Galaxy Communications, the Syracuse-based owner of several radio stations in Syracuse and Utica, has formed an agreement to help out with this year's Lights on the Lake at Onondaga Lake Park in Liverpool. Plans include a New Year's Eve concert as part of a new "First Night CNY" party.
INDIANAPOLIS -- First they were on the radio, then they were also on cable TV. Now, the nationally-synduicated Bob & Tom Show, carried locally in Syracuse and Watertown, and formerly in Utica, is back to being a radio-only show.
FULTON -- The Federal Communications Commission today released a ruling made on Friday, that it would cancel a $7,000 "forfeiture" it had levied in 2007 against Fulton station WAMF 1300 for licensing violations. The reason given by the FCC: it "has since learned" of then-owner Don DeRosa's passing, which happened three months ago.
Good news for two former local radio personalities -- within the past week, both Rick "RJ" Jordan and Sonny King have found new "big" jobs on the radio. But fans will have to make an effort to hear either one, as both jobs are outside of CNYRadio.com territory.

SYRACUSE -- Nominees and Hall of Fame inductees for the Syracuse Area Music Awards (a.k.a. "the SAMMYs") were announced yesterday during a press conference at the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que. Sunny 102 (WZUN) morning man "Big Mike" Fiss had the honor of announcing the list of SAMMY nominees.
SYRACUSE -- Statewide and regional coverage of Syracuse University Athletics will be expanding almost immediately thanks to a new deal the school has signed with SNY, the sports network that's already well-known for carriage of New York Mets baseball, Jets football, and the Big East Conference.
SYRACUSE -- Syndicated host Michael Baisden, whose show is carried during afternoon drive on Clear Channel's Power 106.9 (WPHR) was in Syracuse last night. The appearance at the Crouse-Hinds Theater was part of Baisden's "One Million Mentors" tour of the country.
