SYRACUSE — Former local radio and television talk show host Jim Reith has a new job.  He won’t be working for any local media outlets, but chances are good you’ll see or hear from him in the news.  He’s been hired for public relations for Onondaga County’s Save the Rain program.

SYRACUSE — When WCNY-TV’s TelAuc hits the air in April, it’ll be the very first time the annual fundraiser originates from WCNY’s new facilities on Syracuse’s Near Westside.  That’s according to a press release which appeared on WCNY’s website.

WASHINGTON, DC — Are you ready for Syracuse’s “Sweet 16” game against Indiana tonight?  We usually hold “Picture of the Week” until Friday, but given that this week’s photo has to do with the media frenzy surrounding tonight’s game, we decided to move the feature up by a day this week.

Updated 3/27  with new details throughout — SYRACUSE — Good news for viewers who watch CBS5 (WTVH) over-the-air with an antenna.  The station’s transmitter returned to service today, following a transmitter failure that took the station off-the-air near the end of a close NCAA men’s basketball tournament game on Sunday.

UTICA — A few months since ABC affiliates NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) in Syracuse and WUTR in Utica became reunited under the same corporate umbrella, history appears to be repeating itself: a member of the WSYR-TV team is appearing on newscasts for WUTR and sister station Fox 33 (WFXV) this evening.

Updated 3/22 — WASHINGTON, DC — The rumors we first reported last night are confirmed: Federal Communications Commission chairman Julius Genachowski will be leaving his post in “the coming weeks.”  As expected, Genachowski made the announcement today.

SYRACUSE — Congratulations to longtime local broadcast journalist Dave Bullard, who has exited his position as dayside assignment editor at ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) for a new venture.  He won’t be working for any local media outlets, but he’ll be working with them — all of them — at the New York State Fair.

SYRACUSE — Just about three years since Central New York’s “News 10 Now” joined many of its sisters in rebranding as YNN — short for “Your News Now” — owner Time Warner Cable is considering another name change for its portfolio of local and regional cable news channels.
