SYRACUSE -- One of the biggest syndicated lineup changes in Syracuse TV already took place last month, when Channel 5 (WTVH-DT) managed to snatch Live! with Regis and Kelly away from Channel 9 (WSYR-DT). But a few more changes are set to take place, specifically during the 7pm "access hour."
UTICA/ROME -- Six local country acts will be performing together in Herkimer later this month, all to raise money for a no-kill/no-cage cat shelter in Little Falls. Bug Country (WBUG/WBGK) personality Dave Silvers will serve as master of ceremonies.
ITHACA -- Saga news/talker WHCU is back on the FM dial. Well, it's already on the FM dial if you have an HD Radio receiver, but now you can listen with a regular FM radio. The station's primary coverage on 870AM is now supplemented by the return of translator W240CB at 95.9FM.
SYRACUSE -- Anyone who works in broadcasting knows there are certain times of the year you're forbidden (or at least strongly discouraged) to take vacation. Those are usually the most important ratings or sweeps periods of the year. But in Syracuse, you can cross 12 more days off the calendar: The Great New York State Fair. In this "Mega Picture of the Week" we have not one, not ten, but 16 pictures from this year's fair.
SYRACUSE -- Clear Channel country station B104.7 (WBBS) is nominated for medium market Station of the Year; and morning show co-hosts Tom Owens and Becky Palmer are nominated for medium market Personalities of the Year in the 44th annual Country Music Association Awards.
New info added 9/1 - SYRACUSE -- Clear Channel country station B104.7 (WBBS) and "a Syracuse-area television weatherman" are mentioned in a report by the New York State Inspector General's Office regarding allegations of corruption against former New York State Fair Director Peter Cappuccilli, Jr. and other past and present Fair officials.
SYRACUSE -- According to the Syracuse Press Club, the 10pm newscast on CW6 (WSTQ-LP) will expand from 30 minutes to a full hour starting tonight. SPC says Lisa Spitz will join Matt Mulcahy as producer and co-anchor.
SYRACUSE -- It's a busy two weeks for ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV). Right after 12 days of extensive coverage from the New York State Fair, it's the MDA Labor Day Telethon, followed the very next day by the addition of two more newscasts.
