WRVO Promotes Morden to Tech/Innovation Reporter

OSWEGO -- Good news today for one of WRVO's staffers, and good news also for someone (maybe even you) who will eventually join the WRVO staff.  Morning Edition Producer Ryan Morden is named the station's new Technology and Innovation Reporter.  Since that's a newly-created position, the Oswego-based NPR affiliate will soon announce another opening to fill Morden's original role.

Host, Programmer, Owner Don DeRosa Dies

SYRACUSE -- He worked as an on-air personality, a programmer, and even a station owner.  We regret to pass along the news that Don DeRosa lost his battle to cancer yesterday.  Former colleague Jeff Moulton tells us DeRosa passed at about 4:30 yesterday afternoon -- while friends and former colleagues gathered in Syracuse for a benefit to help cover DeRosa's medical bills.  Updated 6/21 with calling hours and funeral information.

POTW: Summer Jam on the Island (2010)

SYRACUSE -- Earlier this month, Citadel CHR station 93Q (WNTQ) brought several national recording artists into town for its second "Summer Jam on the Island" concert.  Tickets were free, but the only way to get 'em was to win 'em.  Six acts were announced back in April, and at the last minute, the station added a "surprise" special guest to the lineup.

Mediaguide Now Monitoring Syracuse

New Host for K-Rock Nights

SYRACUSE/UTICA -- The K-Rock trio of stations (WKRL/WKRH/WKLL) has a new host for the night shift.  According to PD Nixon, the station has named Candace Curby the new 6-11pm personality, starting June 28th.  Current night jock Tiff is exiting for other opportunities outside radio.  AllAccess.com also has a photo of Curby.
