SAN ANTONIO, TX -- Nearly a year after his brother Randy gave up the presidency of Clear Channel, Mark Mays has announced he's resigning as the company's CEO.  Clear Channel owns six stations in the Syracuse market, including three of the top five stations according to the latest publicly-available ratings P12+.

OSWEGO -- Good news today for one of WRVO's staffers, and good news also for someone (maybe even you) who will eventually join the WRVO staff.  Morning Edition Producer Ryan Morden is named the station's new Technology and Innovation Reporter.  Since that's a newly-created position, the Oswego-based NPR affiliate will soon announce another opening to fill Morden's original role.

SYRACUSE -- He worked as an on-air personality, a programmer, and even a station owner.  We regret to pass along the news that Don DeRosa lost his battle to cancer yesterday.  Former colleague Jeff Moulton tells us DeRosa passed at about 4:30 yesterday afternoon -- while friends and former colleagues gathered in Syracuse for a benefit to help cover DeRosa's medical bills.  Updated 6/21 with calling hours and funeral information.

SYRACUSE -- Earlier this month, Citadel CHR station 93Q (WNTQ) brought several national recording artists into town for its second "Summer Jam on the Island" concert.  Tickets were free, but the only way to get 'em was to win 'em.  Six acts were announced back in April, and at the last minute, the station added a "surprise" special guest to the lineup.

SYRACUSE -- Even though automation systems in place at virtually every radio station in the region allow for easy and accurate documentation of every single song and advertisement that hits the air, many stations are now being watched by at least one "external" observer around the clock. Mediaguide is now monitoring several stations in the Syracuse Metropolitan Service Area (MSA) effective today.  Updated 6/22 with slight corrections.

SYRACUSE/UTICA -- The K-Rock trio of stations (WKRL/WKRH/WKLL) has a new host for the night shift.  According to PD Nixon, the station has named Candace Curby the new 6-11pm personality, starting June 28th.  Current night jock Tiff is exiting for other opportunities outside radio.  AllAccess.com also has a photo of Curby.

SYRACUSE -- Classic FM (WCNY) has requested permission to move its transmitter to the relatively new TV tower on Sentinel Heights. Word comes from Scott Fybush's NorthEast Radio Watch that WCNY wants to move from its older tower in Pompey. Updated 6/22 with additional information.

OSWEGO -- NPR affiliate WRVO has a slew of weekend lineup changes taking effect later this month. Some shows will be moving timeslots, while others will be replaced with new programming. Among the more notable changes, The WRVO Playhouse will soon have a consistent 9pm start time, seven nights a week, rather than starting an hour earlier on weekends.

SYRACUSE -- After just one season with the Syracuse Crunch, broadcaster Joe Brown has is no longer listed among the staff of the AHL club.  There's no word yet on who will be providing play-by-play for the team this coming season, but thankfully, the team has plenty of time to make that decision.

AUBURN -- For many years, he hosted The Polka Party on Auburn's WAUB 1590.  He was so well-liked in the community, he also spent plenty of time behind the mic off-air, as the emcee of many local events.  Donald Fordham passed away on Wednesday at the age of 82.
