SYRACUSE -- The popular Taste of Syracuse Festival, coordinated by local radio station owner Galaxy Communications, is getting some statewide publicity this year. The event is one of just eight to be featured in this year's series of "I Love NY Travel Guide" radio spots to be aired statewide.
SYRACUSE -- Popular announcer Dusty Rhodes will be back on the Syracuse airwaves in May, hosting a four-part series entitled Syracuse Radio in the Fifties on WCNY-HD2. Installments of the program are scheduled to air on Sunday afternoons, starting May 2.
ITHACA -- The FCC has ordered Saga Communications to pay $10,000 in fines, in regards to what the Commission has ruled to be "willful violations" the company made regarding transmitter W240CB. The ruling came after complaints were filed by the Geneva-based Finger Lakes Media Group, who argued W240CB's signal at 95.9FM had interfered with programming from Z95.5 (WFIZ).
CINCINNATI -- Regent Communications, owner of 62 stations, including four radio stations in the Utica-Rome market, has emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy today, according to a press release issued this morning by the company.
SYRACUSE -- It's something that doesn't happen often in radio (but we wish it did) -- air talent restored after previous rounds of cost-cutting. More than a year after he was replaced as morning host at the former Oldies 1390, Bob Brown is once again clocking-in every day at the Smokey Hollow Road studios of Leatherstocking Media Group in Baldwinsville.

SYRACUSE -- Carl Kasell, a fixture of NPR News programming for more than four decades, will be coming to Syracuse in late June. Tickets are now on sale for Kasell's appearance, according to organizers at Oswego-based NPR affiliate WRVO.
SYRACUSE -- The once-successful local sports talk pairing of Bud and the Manchild will return to the airwaves on Monday, May 3. The show has a new timeslot -- weekdays from 10am to noon. It also has a new home -- Citadel's The Score 1260 (WSKO). CNYRadio.com spoke with co-host Jim Lerch, who says he's very excited about getting back on the radio for several reasons.
