SYRACUSE -- Don't know about you, but this especially wet, chilly week made us appreciate the fact that -- despite the lack of any major heat waves -- it was still a pretty good summer. So before conceding to the fact that 5pm nightfall and snowstorms are just around the corner... we're heading back about a month to the warmer days of the New York State Fair.
It's something we used to do more frequently when the site first came back online in 2008... and we've kinda let the "stats" postings fall by the wayside recently. But it's been a pretty busy month here, and we thought it might be interesting to see which stories garnered the most views during September.
OSWEGO -- WRVO is gearing up for its Fall Fundraiser, and they could use your help. The drive up to the Port City might seem long--especially if you listen via WRVJ/Watertown or WRVN/Utica -- but they're offering tours of their state-of-the-art studios and free food to help entice you to volunteer.
VERONA -- Just one week to go until the doors open for the 37th Annual Broadcast & Technology Expo, hosted by Syracuse Chapter 22 of the Society of Broadcast Engineers. As always, there will be plenty of high-tech toys on display, and several demonstrations of the latest and greatest broadcasting equipment. And admission is free!
UTICA-ROME -- He's not just the co-host of SportsWatch on WIBX; Fred Miller is also the owner of a local newspaper and website that cover local sports. And in today's edition of the Utica Observer-Dispatch, Miller discusses his love for his work, and how he became a "media jack-of-all-trades."
SYRACUSE -- Longtime market personality Ronnie Dark checks in with CNYRadio.com to report his concept for a new show, The Wax Museum, has finally become a reality. The show airs Sunday nights from 7-9pm on Love Radio 103.9 (WVOA). The programming is also simulcast on translators 95.3 in Syracuse and 98.1 in LaFayette.
UTICA-ROME -- The soap opera of changes in the airstaff lineup at Roser CHR duo Kiss-FM (WSKS/WSKU) appears to be nearing an end. The station recently hired a new overnight jock, and their website is promoting the debut of a new morning host next week. But signs indicate the selection may NOT be so new.
VERNON -- Oldies 1390 (WFBL/WSEN[AM]) recently welcomed Joey Dee and the Starlighters for a concert at the Vernon Downs Racino. After the show, the group signed autographs for fans, and took some time to pose with WFBL morning man Dick Mastriano.
UTICA -- A quick update to the schedule at Kiss-FM (WSKS/WSKU). We've noticed PD Shaun Andrews has moved from middays to a new 7-hour shift running from 6am to 1pm. And newly-promoted afternoon driver S-Dot extends his shift too, taking over for Andrews until the syndicated Jackson Blue show begins at 7pm.
UTICA-ROME -- More news from Utica morning fixture Bill Keeler: he tells CNYRadio.com he's on the hunt for a new morning sidekick. Former right-hand man Mark Piersma is reportedly hoping to start his own morning show on a different station in the market.
