SYRACUSE -- He was best known by his on-air names "Johnny C" and "Johnny Vann."  Former WNDR, WOLF and WFBL broadcaster John L. Creveling has died.  Memorial services will take place tomorrow in Durham, NC, but an "audio tie-in" will be provided in North Syracuse.

NEW YORK CITY -- An article in today's New York Post confirms Clear Channel's plans to "cut $400 million in costs."  The paper quotes "three sources with inside knowledge of the plan" who say "an initial round of layoffs is expected to commence next Tuesday." 

UTICA-ROME -- Instead of our usual (and often unproductive) tirade of searching station websites for new POTW candidates, we decided to try Google Image Search.  It took awhile, but we finally struck gold with a reunion of WTLB staffers.

UTICA-ROME -- After four months of "auditioning" his weekend show, Newsradio 950 WIBX is getting ready to bring Glenn Beck into the Mohawk Valley every weekday morning.  In a roundabout way, Beck will be replacing Bill O'Reilly.

ITHACA/CORTLAND -- Almost two months since Saga Rocker I-100 (WIII) started the search for a new afternoon host, the station has chosen to promote weekender Paul Hansom to the job.  (And now they have a NEW job opening -- someone to fill Hansom's spot on weekends.)

UTICA-ROME -- Scott Fybush just posted several Utica-Rome legal IDs he recorded in October 2007, just before Clear Channel sold its U-R cluster to Galaxy Communications.  Many of the stations impacted by that sale are included.  Click here to read more and listen at tophour.com.

SYRACUSE -- We haven't had first-hand confirmation from anyone inside the CC Syracuse camp yet, but we're seeing more and more signs that January 20th could mean layoffs at Clear Channel stations across the country. (Updated with links to similar reports from other websites.)

SYRACUSE --  They're still a long way from matching the longevity of Ted & Amy, but it's still a remarkable accomplishment in today's ever-changing radio landscape.  Hot 107.9 (WWHT) morning team Marty & Shannon will be celebrating 5 years on the air together with a party later this month.

SYRACUSE -- Galaxy's KROCK (WKRL/WKRH) is staging a special Inauguration Ball concert on January 20, complete with local and national performers.

UTICA-ROME -- The Mars Hill Network is adding a new full-power station to improve the reach of its religious programming in the Mohawk Valley.
