Bluegrass Ramble Picnic on Sunday

The 32 annual Bluegrass Ramble Picnic is this Sunday in Little York. The event, organized by WCNY's Bluegrass Ramble host Bill Knowlton is the oldest bluegrass and oldtime acoustic country music festival.

This year's lineup includes: The Delany Brothers, Jim and Sue Kelly, The Salmon River Boys, Andy Pawlenko and the Smokey Hollow Boys, and many more.

The picnic runs from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m at Dwyer Memorial Park. Admission and parking are free.

Caustic to open K-Rockathon Friday

As winners of this year's K-Rock/Molson Band Search, local modern rockers Caustic won the honor of kicking off this weekend's K-Rockathon at the Cayuga County Fairgrounds in Weedsport.

The Watertown group bested nearly 40 other local bands in the eight-week competition before walking away with the top prize earlier this month at Club Tundra.

WOLF staff to reunite next month

It's been 64 years since WOLF turned on its 100-watt transmitter for the first time. The station is now a Radio Disney affiliate, but in its early years, the Syracuse AM facility was the training ground for some big names in broadcasting, including Dick Clark and Marv Albert.

Next month, several WOLF alumni are planning a get-together in Syracuse. The reunion includes a three-hour on-air flashback of sorts on Saturday August 7th.

Country Fest: The New Times review

Erin Bristol exits 'The Dog'

New Rock 105 (WWDG) program director and midday air personality Erin Bristol is no longer with the Syracuse Clear Channel station and is in search of other opportunities.

Bristol moved to Syracuse nearly two years ago from Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she programmed a Hot AC station for Clear Channel.

Mark Johnson moving to Denver

It was an offer that he couldn't refuse. Syracuse University play-by-play announcer Mark Johnson announced he is heading west to Denver to be sports director at KOA 850. KOA is the radio home of the Denver Broncos football and Colorado Rockies baseball teams.

Johnson, 36, has been the voice of Syracuse University sports for the past two years, which included calling the basketball team's run at the national title in 2003.

Johnson's partner in the broadcast booth, Matt Park, has been named as his replacement.

WSCP brings country to the city
