Erin Bristol exits 'The Dog'

New Rock 105 (WWDG) program director and midday air personality Erin Bristol is no longer with the Syracuse Clear Channel station and is in search of other opportunities.

Bristol moved to Syracuse nearly two years ago from Cedar Rapids, Iowa where she programmed a Hot AC station for Clear Channel.

Mark Johnson moving to Denver

It was an offer that he couldn't refuse. Syracuse University play-by-play announcer Mark Johnson announced he is heading west to Denver to be sports director at KOA 850. KOA is the radio home of the Denver Broncos football and Colorado Rockies baseball teams.

Johnson, 36, has been the voice of Syracuse University sports for the past two years, which included calling the basketball team's run at the national title in 2003.

Johnson's partner in the broadcast booth, Matt Park, has been named as his replacement.

WSCP brings country to the city

With country station WSCP now relaying on 101.3 FM in Syracuse and a deal with the city to sponsor this past weekend's Country Fest in Clinton Square, Galaxy Communications is looking for WSCP to be known as more than just "that little Pulaski station."

WAER's Eric Wellman picks up award

WEAR's Eric Wellman has been awarded the Hearst Prize in radio journalism for his coverage of the Northeast blackout of 2003.

The kudos come with a $5,000 check for Wellman and also for Syracuse University. Wellman, a reporter for WAER, is a student at the Newhouse School.

Y94FM announces 'Disco Reunion' lineup

Y94FM is dusting off its disco ball for the station's annual Disco Reunion concert Friday, August 6th at the State Fairgrounds.

This year's lineup includes The Ladies of Chic, Bonnie Pointer from the Pointer Sisters, Carol Williams from Odyssey, and Sal Soul Orchestra. The cover band Dyn-o-mite Disco Revue will also be on hand.

Nine stations add Howard Stern

Howard Stern is not giving up.

Months after being kicked off of six Clear Channel stations across the country, the syndicated shock jock announced today his show will debut in nine new markets beginning in July. That's good news for Stern fans in Rochester which was one of the markets affected by Clear Channel's decision in February.

Stern's show continues to air on 95X (WAQX) in Syracuse.

Musical chairs in Utica-Rome

Big Frog 104 (WFRG) welcomed a new morning co-host earlier this month. Kristie Waters jumps from middays at Galaxy's Rock 107 (WRCK) to pair up with Matt Herkimer. Waters replaces Lisa Webber who left for New England in April.

Over at Rock 107, the midday chair is now occupied by former WFRG/WFRY personality Matt 'Bullfrog' Raisman.

Kobe Austin: Where is he now?

Kobe (Zimmerman) Austin is keeping himself busy out on the West Coast these days. The former Syracuse jock who got his start in radio on Z89 (WJPZ), 93Q (WNTQ), and Hot 107-9 (WWHT) has branched out into voiceover production work and acting in addition to gigs on the radio in Portland, Oregon and Boston.
