SYLVAN BEACH -- Could it be possible that the haunts in the "Laffland" ride at Sylvan Beach Amusement Park aren't entirely fake? The cast and crew of the SyFy series "Ghost Hunters" visited to investigate. Next week, they'll reveal their findings on national television.

SYRACUSE -- Would you vote local TV news anchor Rod Wood into public office? How about former local talk host Jim Reith? At least a few people said "yes" to these and other local broadcasters, submitting their names as write-in candidates during the 2012 General Election, according to results from the Onondaga County Board of Elections.
ITHACA -- Know any students considering a career in radio? The Cayuga Radio Group and the New York State Broadcasters Association are teaming up to offer a paid internship at the cluster this summer. The cluster, owned by Saga Communications, is now accepting applications.
UTICA-ROME -- Former Oldiez 96 (WODZ) morning man Bob Cain is back on the radio. He's followed fellow former Townsquare Media personalities Gene Conte and Fred Miller over to the ESPN Radio stations, owned by Syracuse-based Galaxy Communications.
SYRACUSE -- Congratulations to East Syracuse native Niko Tamurian, who was officially named Sports Director for the CNY Central trio of television stations today. He replaces John Evenson, who left earlier this month for a new job in Florida.
CENTRAL NEW YORK -- Nearly every country music station in the three markets covered by CNYRadio.com has a connection to this year's Academy of Country Music awards. Once again, Syracuse's B104.7 (WBBS) is directly nominated for two ACM awards, while other stations in Syracuse, Utica and Ithaca enjoy nominations for nationally-syndicated talent on their programming lineups.
SYRACUSE -- Two producers and a news photographer are leaving NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) for new jobs elsewhere. That's according to the latest newsletter from the Syracuse Press Club.
Updated 4:55pm -- SYRACUSE -- Since Wednesday night and through the weekend, car dealers are showing off the latest and greatest in automotive technology at the 2013 Syracuse AutoExpo. But today, we're headed back in time, for a look at some classic "FM Dial Cards" which were given to visitors who attended the same show in 1976, some 37 years ago. It's an interesting glimpse of Syracuse radio history.
SYRACUSE -- When you see several TV stations airing the same thing at the same time, you know it's a big deal. It doesn't happen often. But last spring, several local stations turned their competition into cooperation. Together, they produced and simulcast "Protecting Our Children," a one-hour special to raise awareness of child abuse. Almost a year later, the rare joint effort is getting new attention in the form of a New York Emmy Award nomination. And public broadcaster WCNY-TV has four additional nominations of its own.
