ALBANY -- Dan Austin, who ran the former Citadel (now Cumulus) radio cluster in Syracuse from 2008-2010, is on the move again. Today, he announced he's leaving the GM position at Townsquare Media's Albany cluster to take a sales management position in southern California.
The Albany Business Review reported Friday on Austin's plans to leave Albany, though at the time, he wasn't at liberty to disclose his destination. Today, a follow-up piece reports Austin has accepted the position of Director of Sales with Lincoln Financial Media's four-station cluster in San Diego, CA.
This won't be Austin's first cross-country move -- between his time in Syracuse and his current position in Albany, Austin ran the sales department at CBS Radio's Seattle cluster for nearly a year and a half.
Most of his career has been here in New York, starting out with the former Cox (now Clear Channel) radio cluster in Syracuse, where he split his time between working in the sales department and serving as weekend/fill-in talent in the mid 1990s. According to his LinkedIn profile, Austin spent 7 years with Pamal Broadcasting in Albany, working his way up the ranks to sales manager, and later, to GM, before being "recruited by Citadel to [Syracuse] as a turnaround specialist" in 2008.
According to the Albany Business Review, Austin's last day with Townsquare in Albany will be Friday, November 8. He'll have the weekend to get used to the new timezone and begin his new position in San Diego the following Monday.
