SYRACUSE — NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) anchor Dan Cummings has held many titles at the ABC affiliate over the past 37 years. By the time we bid farewell to 2021, he’ll assume a new title: retiree. Cummings announced his exit plans this week on The Morning News.

SYRACUSE — The recent death of longtime Syracuse broadcast journalist Dave White got one of his former colleagues thinking. Former 570 WSYR talk host Jim Reith took to Facebook to reminisce about how much the Syracuse news media scene has changed — in not-so-good ways — over the past few decades.

SYRACUSE — Local broadcasters are mourning the death of one of their own tonight. Longtime radio and TV newsman Dave White passed away Monday at the age of 71. Younger journalists and audiences may recall White as the former media relations contact at SUNY-ESF.

SYRACUSE — Following the news that husband and wife Niko Tamurian and Farah Jadran are leaving CNYCentral, there’s word on at least one replacement. CNY Central (WSTM / WTVH / CW6) says the married duo of Sports Director Niko Tamurian and WTVH morning news anchor Farah Jadran are moving to Seattle.

CNYTVNews has received word of four vacancies in the newsroom at Sinclair-owned CNYCentral, the combo of NBC3 (WSTM-TV), CBS5 (WTVH) and CW6 (WSTM-DT2). SYRACUSE — NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) is looking west towards “cheesehead territory” to fill a vacancy in its sports department. The station says Shannon Shepherd will be moving from WSAU-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin to join the Nexstar-owned ABC affiliate at the end of this month. CLEVELAND, OH — Former WSTM-TV general manager Bill Applegate, now serving in the same post at Cleveland CBS affiliate WOIO, is among the defendants in a lawsuit brought by one of the station’s sales staffers. The plaintiff alleges that he was encouraged to provide sexual favors to encourage clients to spend money with the station.
