SYRACUSE -- When Nikolai Busko left the morning drive anchor position at Newsradio 570 WSYR in August, we were left scratching our heads, as management never responded to our queries regarding his whereabouts. Earlier today, Busko emailed CNYRadio.com with "the rest of the story," to borrow a phrase from the late Paul Harvey, regarding his exit from the station.
SYRACUSE -- The WSYR newsroom was flooded and all six Clear Channel stations in Syracuse were knocked off the air for a brief period this morning, due to a burst water pipe.
SYRACUSE/UTICA-ROME -- Less than a week after dropping computer advice talk show host Kim Komando due to apparent scheduling conflicts, CNY Talk Radio (WFBL/WMCR/WUTI) has announced a replacement: The Tech Guy, hosted by Leo Laporte, is now part of the trio's weekend lineup.
SYRACUSE -- Tommy Nast of the former 94 Rock (present-day Y94FM / WYYY) was back in town last night, recounting some of the battles he waged against 95X (WAQX) back when the two stations were bitter rivals. Nast spoke at the Syracuse Area Music Awards (SAMMYs) Hall of Fame induction ceremony last night.
SYRACUSE -- Fans of computer whiz Kim Komando's weekend talk show will have to flip the dial from AM to FM starting this weekend. They'll also get to sleep in a bit later. She's moving from Leatherstocking's trio of "CNY Talk Radio" stations over Citadel's 105.9FM The Big Talker (WXTL).
SYRACUSE -- As reported earlier this week, 93Q (WNTQ) morning hosts Ted Long and Amy Robbins recently won the Syracuse New Times "Best of Syracuse" award for the "Best Local Morning Radio Show" for the 11th consecutive year.
CORTLAND -- SUNY Cortland's WSUC 90.5, which serves as a part-time simulcast for programming from Oswego's WRVO, has applied for permission to increase its broadcast power levels. This is the second time the FCC has accepted an application for the change, after the original construction permit filed in 2007 expired last week.
ITHACA/CORTLAND -- There are some new voices coming to the radio dial in Ithaca. The recently-under-new-ownership ESPN Radio 1160 (WPIE) has hired the host for its first local talk show and CHR station Z95.5 (WFIZ) has a new night jock.
SYRACUSE -- After three years hosting nights at Citadel CHR 93Q (WNTQ), Mike Cauchon is headed to New England for his next job. And that leaves PD/OM Tom Mitchell on the hunt for a replacement and we've got the details on how you can apply.
