GENEVA -- It was a busy weekend for NPR affiliate WEOS. The station hosted a live taping of Says You in Geneva on Friday night and a live broadcast of Whad'ya Know in Ithaca on Saturday. Scott Fybush attended the Ithaca event and posted photos in this week's edition of NorthEast Radio Watch, published today.
SYRACUSE -- Longtime local radio personality and Syracuse University associate broadcasting professor Dr. Roosevelt "Rick" Wright says radio is "at a fork in the road," reflecting on the many recent format changes in the market. He also calls out larger corporate owners for buying too many "overvalued" stations too quickly, racking up painful debt.
SYRACUSE -- The online/low-power Kiss-FM in Syracuse is adding some syndicated content to its lineup. Management tells CNYRadio.com the station, streaming at kissfmcny.com, will begin carrying the Phoenix-based Retro 80s Weekend on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 2pm, starting this weekend.

LAS VEGAS -- Citadel Broadcasting, the owner of more than 200 radio stations including four in Syracuse, has emerged from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. According to one published report, Citadel Chairman and CEO Farid Suleman said, "we're glad it's over and we can get on with running the company."
UTICA-ROME -- We're saddened to report Virginia "Ginny" Jones, a longtime fixture in local broadcasting, passed away Wednesday after losing her battle with cancer. While most area listeners probably never knew Jones by name, chances are you've heard her voice and/or her copywriting in commercial spots, particularly those which were produced and aired by the former Regent Communications cluster.

UTICA/ROME -- The mysterious commercial-free music on WUTI now has a name. The 5,000-watt AM station located in Oriskany is now identifying itself as "Ed 1150," according to a pre-recorded liner which aired between songs earlier this afternoon.
