SYRACUSE -- We originally had a picture from 93Q (WNTQ) night host Mike Cauchon planned for this week, when we received a photo of morning team Ted & Amy receiving an important award. Timely events usually win the priority battle, but we didn't want to make Mike wait yet another week (he submitted his picture about a month ago) -- so we present a 2-for-1 special featuring both bookends of the 93Q weekday talent lineup!

SYRACUSE -- "Disaster never sounded catchier!" That's part of the description posted along with an old recording of an old Emergency Alert System jingle custom-produced for WHEN "circa 1975." The jingle has been posted on YouTube.

SYRACUSE -- A mix of national and local acts are on the bill for the 4th annual KRock (WKRL/WKRH/WKLL) Dysfunctional Family BBQ. The station says the concert is set for Sunday, May 29th at Chevy Court at the New York State Fairgrounds. Tickets go on sale Saturday morning.
SYRACUSE -- If you happen to catch Mike Cauchon from 93Q (WNTQ) looking a little tired this week, give the guy a break (and perhaps a cup of coffee). In addition to his usual night show on the Citadel CHR station, he's pulling double duty with morning television traffic reports all week.
CENTRAL NEW YORK -- It's awards season for local media! The Radio/Television Digital News Association recently announced its regional winners, and the Syracuse Press Club recently announced its full slate of award winners, recognizing excellence in journalism during 2009.
ITHACA -- Time's running out for Hobart & William Smith Colleges' construction permit to get new radio station WITH (90.1 FM) on the air. With some help from public broadcasters in Rochester and Binghamton, it looks like WITH will meet the deadline, with plans to sign-on sometime in May.
SYRACUSE -- Galaxy Communications says acclaimed blues musician Kenny Wayne Shepherd will headline next month's "Blues, Brews and BBQ" hosted by classic rocker TK99/TK105 (WTKV/WTKW). Organizers have also announced the rest of the lineup, along with ticketing information.
SYRACUSE -- Citadel Broadcasting is looking for a part-time assistant to help with continuity. The job includes a wide variety of duties, 10 hours a week, Monday-Friday, according to a job posting recently listed online.
UTICA-ROME -- Remember WKAL? Way back before FM radio took hold in the Mohawk Valley, this 1kW station at 1450AM was among the limited options for radio audiences, especially back in the 40s -- when WIBX was the only other station in the market. Today, we hear from a former WKAL personality who recently found our site and decided to share an old publicity poster.
