SYRACUSE -- After Tanja Babich leaves NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) in less than two weeks, she'll be headed west to Chicago.  It was revealed today that she'll be working for ABC's owned-and-operated affiliate in the Windy City.

UTICA-ROME -- NPR news/talk fans in the Copper City could soon have another option for tuning-in the NPR affiliate from the Port City.  The FCC has granted a construction permit for a new FM translator in Rome to simulcast Oswego's WRVO.  When construction is complete, the signal at 92.3FM is expected to cover the city's center and surrounding areas.

SYRACUSE -- Baseball fans will be able to hear the Syracuse Chiefs on broadcast radio again next spring.  The Triple A affiliate of the Washington Nationals said it's returning to The Score 1260 (WSKO) in 2014, after trying out an "online only" approach during the 2013 season.

SYRACUSE -- Two of the three primary on-air talent for "The Morning News" on NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) will be leaving the ABC affiliate by the end of this year.  Co-anchor Tanja Babich and meteorologist Chris Brandolino have new jobs lined-up outside of Central New York.  Babich will be gone by the end of this month, and Brandolino will wrap up his three-year stay with channel 9 on New Year's Eve.

SYRACUSE -- They've woken us up for two and a half decades, arriving unannounced with their witty banter blaring through our clock radios.  For 25 years, "Ted and Amy in the Morning" on 93Q (WNTQ) has helped Central New Yorkers start their days.  The station is honoring the pair with a huge party this Saturday at the Sheraton University Hotel in Syracuse.  Recently, Ted and Amy spoke with CNYRadio.com about their jobs.

Updated 11:20am -- ITHACA -- The parent company of the Cayuga Radio Group, the dominant radio cluster in Ithaca, is looking to grow bigger.  According to documents filed with the FCC last week, Saga Communications wants to buy ROI Broadcasting CHR station Z95.5 (WFIZ) and three translators.  The $715,000 deal is being spurred by a bankruptcy filing involving one of Z95,5's owners.

SYRACUSE -- Planning for an operation is no fun for anyone... especially a young child.  But a 12-year-old from Oswego County got a thrill before heading into the for major spinal surgery, when classic rock station TK99 (WTKW) was able to help the boy meet one of his sports heroes.

SYRACUSE -- When an all-sports radio station has the rights to both baseball's World Series and NFL football, which game wins in a scheduling conflict?  For ESPN Radio CNY, which is heard at 1200AM and 97.7FM in Syracuse, and 1440AM and 100.7FM in Oswego, the answer was a matter of splitting-up the usual simulcast.  But the FMs are just translators -- legally, they are not able to originate their own programming.  So, how did Galaxy Communications do it without breaking FCC rules?

SYRACUSE -- Although there are many changes in the works at the Syracuse Chiefs this off-season, fans will hear some familiar voices offering play-by-play and color commentary next spring. The team says Jason Benetti and Kevin Brown will continue their roles in the media office. Still up in the air, however, is whether the Chiefs will return to broadcast radio in 2014, after a season of webcasting.

NEW YORK CITY -- Continuing our catching-up on news from "while we were out on hiatus," former CNY broadcaster Dave Vieser checks-in to share some good news.  The former Assistant PD and morning co-host of the Morning News Watch on Ithaca's WHCU is now back on WHCU -- and hundreds of other radio stations across the country -- as a correspondent for CBS News Radio.
