UTICA-ROME -- One day after former Kiss-FM (WSKS/WSKU) middayer Jesse Jordan said she got fired for refusing a reassignment to morning drive, nighttime jock "Intern Dave" Wheeler tells CNYRadio.com he's calling it quits on his weeknight show -- leaving the station with just two full-time jocks.  His last regular show will be this Friday.

SYRACUSE -- One Syracuse University School of Law professor was notably upset with Clear Channel's recent weekend-long format flip from urban Power 106.9 to "Young Country 106.9" and then back to Power.  LaVonda N. SYRACUSE -- When the new season of Saturday Night Live begins later this week (with a special set to air Thursday, actually), you could be hearing jokes written by local comedian/DJ Josh Grosvent. He's been hired as a contributing writer for the long-running sketch show's "Weekend Update" segment.

UTICA-ROME -- Jesse Jordan has been dropped from the lineup at Roser CHR Kiss-FM (WSKS/WSKU).  The midday personality, who also doubled as Promotions Director, says she was let go because she refused to be moved to the morning drive timeslot.

Updated 9/13 with arrangements - SYRACUSE -- Longtime Syracuse radio and TV journalist Jerry Barsha has passed away at the age of 83.  His broadcasting career spanned more than three decades, most of it at 1030 James Street, dating back to the days when channel 3 was WSYR-TV and it shared the building with WSYR 570.

WATERTOWN -- Today's school kids may not recognize President Richard Nixon or why he looked awkward saying "Sock it to Me" on Laugh In decades ago, but thanks to Tunes 92-5 (WBLH), many Jefferson County kids are thankful for the famous phrase.

ITHACA -- Another new format is on the air in Ithaca -- Saga Communications brings AAA to the market with Wednesday's launch of "98.7 The Vine" (W254BF).  As you might have guessed from the call letters, this is Saga's second Ithaca station relying on the combo of a low-power analog FM translator with an HD subchannel of a full-power station.

Garrison Keillor, host of NPR's A Prairie Home Companion is recovering following what doctors are calling a "minor stroke" over the weekend.  A spokesperson at the Mayo Clinic in Keillor's home state of Minnesota says "he plans to resume a normal schedule next week."
