GENEVA -- After seeing Tuesday's article about the mug contest at fellow NPR affiliate WRVO, General Manager Aaron Read at WEOS writes to tell us his station's also been asking for listeners to lend their creativity to a similar project for a little over a week now.  And he says WEOS has some other big events in the works.

GENEVA -- Tower work on the campus of Hobart and William Smith Colleges could force WEOS' translator on 90.3 FM (W212BA) to shut down for awhile on Friday.  The station's primary signal at 89.7FM and all other frequencies will not be impacted.

SYRACUSE -- Look for a new imaging voice on Classic Hits 92.1 (WSEN).  The station is one of three new clients of V/O talent Rachel Logan of the Imaging Chop Shop, according to AllAccess.com.

SYRACUSE -- It's been a big week for Brent Axe: a day after announcing he's joining the Buffalo Bills Radio Network's broadcast team this fall, he revealed his weekday show "On the Block" on ESPN Radio 1260 (WNSS) will be simulcast on television starting next week.

OSWEGO -- The WRVO Stations are calling on listeners with some artistic talent to help celebrate their 40th anniversary. They're accepting designs for a special edition coffee mug which will be made available this fall.

PORTLAND, OR -- The husband and wife team of Pete Michaels and Brenda Bissett have worked at plenty of stations in their career, including Syracuse's Y94FM (WYYY).  Where are they now?  Looks like they're hoping to get themselves on many more stations -- at the same time.

SYRACUSE -- Perhaps it's a sign of just how tough the economy has been recently -- Syracuse University NPR affiliate WAER 88.3 has apparently replaced morning jazz host Jane Librizzi with an automated satellite feed.

SYRACUSE -- Brent Axe, host of "On the Block" on ESPN Radio 1260 (WNSS) announced on his show shortly after 5:00 this afternoon that he will add hosting duties with the Buffalo Bills Radio Network starting this fall.

UTICA-ROME -- This past weekend marked the 31st running of "America's Biggest 15K Road Race," the Utica Boilermaker.  Every year, the race gets bigger and bigger... and for many years, local media outlets have made it a point to have a presence at the race.  Several pictures this week instead of the usual one.

UTICA-ROME -- Former WOUR afternoon drive personality Jerry Kraus announced plans to run for a seat on the City of Utica's Common Council earlier this week.
