SYRACUSE -- An effort that started in 2007 will "officially" come to fruition later this month, as WCNY hosts a day-long grand opening for its brand new facilities on Syracuse's near west side. The general public is invited to stop by 415 West Fayette Street, anytime between 9am and 5pm on Wednesday, October 30. A variety of tours, events and special guests are scheduled.
ALBANY -- Two broadcasters with ties to Central New York are among the five men named as this year's inductees to the New York Broadcasters Hall of Fame. Former WTVH General Manager Bill Ransom, Nexstar Broadcasting CEO/President/Founder Perry Sook and three others will be honored at a special ceremony next month in New York City.
Updated 10/20 -- SYRACUSE -- An obituary published today advises, "be prepared to smile, laugh, and cry" at a celebration of life this weekend in Cazenovia, in memory of former WSYR radio news anchor Tara Howard Knauff. She died on Monday following a battle with cancer.
UTICA-ROME -- Catching-up on happenings from the "summer hiatus," there are some notable changes at two Roser Communications Network stations in the Mohawk Valley. Former Syracuse on-air personality Brandon C. joins the lineup at Kiss-FM (WSKS/WSKU), while news/talk/music hybrid 100.7FM WUTQ shuffles the schedule to make room for more music.
SYRACUSE -- No major surprises at the very top of the latest radio ratings released by Nielsen Audio... but plenty of movement among stations on the rest of the chart. Nielsen Audio, formerly Arbitron, released its Summer 2013 radio audience estimates this week.

A new website -- along with a newly-launched and suddenly-removed Twitter account -- is raising question as to whether Cumulus Media is bringing it's "Nash" country music branding to Syracuse.
SYRACUSE -- Former WSYR radio host Tara Howard Knauff has died. According to Geoff Herbert on syracuse.com, the former morning show co-anchor passed away following a battle with cancer. Howard worked at WSYR from 1991 to 2000. Howard spent the final years of her career at ABC News Radio in New York City.
UTICA -- The WUTR/WFXV Eyewitness News HD newsroom has a new leader. Veteran journalist Don Dudley will fill the position that's been vacant since Joe Parker exited the operation a few months ago.
Back in July, I announced this site would be taking an extended summer hiatus due to a number of personal events. At the time, I stated a desire to get CNYRadio.com and CNYTVNews.com back up and running in October. That's still the plan, but it's going to take some help from willing volunteers to avoid any future hiatuses. Updated 10/13 -- SYRACUSE -- Multiple trusted sources, speaking on a condition of anonymity, tell CNYRadio.com that midday news anchor Nia Carter has exited Newsradio 570 and 106.9 (WSYR / WSYR-FM). By our count, that leaves the Clear Channel-owned newsroom with just three staff members -- a marked contrast from staffing levels just a few years earlier.
