SYRACUSE -- For more than a decade, country superstar Chris Cagle has been thrilling fans from coast to coast.  Earlier this month, he made a stop in Central New York where he met some fans chosen through a contest held by New Country WOLF 105.1.

UTICA -- New business cards are on the way for NewsChannel 2 (WKTV) news director Steve McMurray... today, staffers learned he is being promoted to Station Manager for the NBC affiliate.

Updated SYRACUSE -- Confirming yesterday's initial reports of the imminent sale of WSYR-TV and many other stations owned by Newport Television, we've learned today that the ABC affiliate will be sold to Nexstar Broadcasting Group.

SYRACUSE -- Unless you've got access to the full Arbitron Spring 2012 ratings report for Syracuse, it can be difficult to tell where the area's radio stations stacked up against each other.  The numbers released to the public today include only 8 of the market's more than 30 stations.

SYRACUSE -- The parent company of local ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) is reportedly getting closer to a sale, nearly four months after initial reports that Newport Television was putting itself on the market.  And it looks like there will be not one, but three buyers involved in the deal.

SYRACUSE -- For the first time in almost 40 years, the National Football League is relaxing its TV blackout policy. But Buffalo Bills fans in Syracuse and Utica won't notice anything different: the Bills announced today that they won't be exercising a new option to reduce the team's "blackout threshold."

ROCHESTER -- Although it's been a slow week in CNYTVNews.com territory, there's notable news to the west: a corporate stalemate has resulted in Rochester CBS affiliate WROC-TV getting piped into cable systems in Louisville, Kentucky -- and some viewers there are having some fun with the swap.

OSWEGO -- Just shy of three years since leaving WRVO, Tom Herbert has rejoined the NPR affiliate's underwriting sales team. Since leaving WRVO in 2009, Herbert had been working in a similar role for the Mars Hill Christian Radio Network, which is headquartered in Syracuse.

ITHACA/CORTLAND -- There will be plenty of radio options for football fans in Ithaca this fall. Saga rocker I-100 (WIII) announced today it has inked a deal to carry New York Giants games this season. Less than a month earlier, the cluster revealed sister station Progressive Talk 1470 WNYY will carry Buffalo Bills games.
