POTW: Cook Book of the Stars (1941)

SYRACUSE -- This may very well qualify as the all-time "oldest" Picture of the Week yet.  We're going back more than 70 years in Syracuse radio history, with scans from a few pages from a "WFBL Cook Book of the Stars," published in 1941. During those years I am pretty sure that some of our most useful cooking tools now were not invented yet and it can be a troublesome task. WRVO's Vigeant Moving to Pennsylvania's WITF

Updated 6/14 with additional information -- OSWEGO -- It's a classic example of climbing the professional ladder: Fred Vigeant started with WRVO in 2000 as an undergrad at SUNY Oswego.  Over the next 12 years, he'd progress from being a producer to Operations Director, and eventually to Program Director in 2006.  Next week, Vigeant will bid WRVO farewell as he moves south along I-81 to work for another NPR affiliate.

UTICA-ROME -- For thirty years, he was known as "The Doctor" in afternoon drive on WOUR.  That ended in 2007, when Clear Channel eliminated most of WOUR's staff just before the company sold its cluster to current owner Galaxy Communications.  Today, locally-owned Arjuna Broadcasting announced Kraus is returning to 92.7 The Drive (WXUR).

NPR's "Car Talk" Hosts to Retire This Fall

Updated 6/10 -- CAMBRIDGE, MA -- For a quarter-century, listeners nationwide have enjoyed listening to brothers Tom and Ray Magliozzi, known as "Click and Clack," every Saturday morning on NPR's Car Talk.  Today, the duo announced plans to retire this fall, but fans need not worry -- shows will continue to air every weekend into the foreseeable future.
