SYRACUSE/UTICA -- The K-Rock trio of stations (WKRL/WKRH/WKLL) has a new host for the night shift. According to PD Nixon, the station has named Candace Curby the new 6-11pm personality, starting June 28th. Current night jock Tiff is exiting for other opportunities outside radio. UTICA-ROME -- Stew Schantz, who once served as Operations Manager of Clear Channel's former Utica-Rome cluster, has passed away at the age of 53. He most recently was working as OM and afternoon driver at WUPE in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. RALEIGH, NC -- National trades are reporting a promotion for former K-Rock (WKRL/WKRH/WKLL) personality JJ Herr. Since 2007, he's been working middays at country station WQDR, and now adds Assistant PD duties at the Curtis Media Group-owned station.

SYRACUSE -- The new afternoon show Disturbing the Peace was supposed to debut yesterday on The New ESPN Radio (WTLA/WSGO/W249BC/W259AX). But listeners who tuned in during the advertised 2-6pm timeslot heard ESPN network programming instead. We checked in with Galaxy Communications management to see what happened.
UTICA-ROME -- Galaxy Communications has announced former Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts and his current band, Great Southern, will headline the schedule at Classic Rock 96.9 WOUR's "Party in the Park" concert on July 21. Admission is free and a number of local bands are also expected to perform.
SYRACUSE -- The New ESPN Radio (WTLA/WSGO and 97.7/100.1FM) will soon come through on its promise to expand upon locally-originated programming. Disturbing the Peace will air during afternoon drive, starting Monday, May 17. The show will be co-hosted primarily by Chris McManus and Anthony Riccobono.
