ST. JOHNSVILLE -- Even though the FCC had previously made it clear that it's decision stands regarding the cancelled construction permit for a new AM station just east of the border between the Utica-Rome and Albany-Schenectady-Troy radio markets, the would-be owner of the station is asking for another chance from the FCC.
UTICA -- News Channel 2 (WKTV) has named Maryland native Janel Boston as the NBC affiliate's new morning co-anchor. She comes from the MyNetwork TV affiliate in Baltimore -- the same market (but not the same station) where former WKTV morning co-anchor Megan Koskovich accepted a producing job in March.
UTICA-ROME -- After nearly 16 years with what is now Townsquare Media, Geoff Storm is headed onto a new venture. His last day with the four-station camp will be June 1. GREENWICH, CT -- No changes are expected at Cumulus radio stations in Syracuse, nor at Townsquare stations in the Utica-Rome market, following a major 13-market station swap announced this morning between the two companies. Just outside of the CNYRadio.com coverage area, the five-station Cumulus cluster will be going to Townsquare.

UTICA-ROME -- Townsquare Media Creative Services Director Geoff Storm has been named "Ad Person of the Year" by the Mohawk Valley Advertising Club. The club says Storm was selected not only for the work he does for Townsquare, but also for his volunteer efforts outside of the office.

LOS ANGELES -- Broadcast personality Dick Clark, best known for shows like American Bandstand, the game show Pyramid and the annual New Year's Rockin Eve specials on ABC, has died following a "massive heart attack" this morning in California. Clark, who was 82, made his very first appearances on radio and television in Utica, and graduated from Syracuse University.
