SYRACUSE -- NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) is looking west towards "cheesehead territory" to fill a vacancy in its sports department. The station says Shannon Shepherd will be moving from WSAU-TV in Wausau, Wisconsin to join the Nexstar-owned ABC affiliate at the end of this month.

CLEVELAND, OH -- Former WSTM-TV general manager Bill Applegate, now serving in the same post at Cleveland CBS affiliate WOIO, is among the defendants in a lawsuit brought by one of the station's sales staffers. The plaintiff alleges that he was encouraged to provide sexual favors to encourage clients to spend money with the station.
SYRACUSE -- Public broadcaster WCNY has announced a total of four job openings at its new facilities in the Near West Side neighborhood of Syracuse. The jobs include a program director for WCNY-FM, two positions in the television joint master control facility based at WCNY, and an account executive.

ITHACA -- Longtime Cornell University sports broadcaster Barry Leonard celebrated a notable milestone last month. Twenty-two years into his tenure as "the Voice of the Big Red," Leonard was recognized for calling his 1,000th game on the radio.
