He was interviewed by reporters as a neighbor of the man who reportedly shot an employee at an AT&T store in the Utica suburb of New Hartford yesterday.

WHCU Contributor Jay Gallagher Dies

ALBANY -- He worked primarily in print media, referred to as "the dean" of State Capitol journalists by the Albany Times-Union... but he was also a frequent contributor to WHCU's Morning Newswatch.  Former Gannett Albany bureau chief Jay Gallagher passed away Monday evening in an Albany hospital after battling pancreatic cancer for nearly a year.  Today, WHCU's Dave Vieser shares some of his memories of working with Gallagher.

I-100 Pays Tribute to Ronnie James Dio

ITHACA/CORTLAND -- It's a special edition of the locally-produced Homemade Jam this weekend on rocker I-100 (WIII).  The show will be paying tribute to Cortland native and rock star Ronnie James Dio, who died this past Monday at the age of 67.  Dio's wife announced last November that Dio had been diagnosed with stomach cancer.

WRVO Swaps Environmental Reports

OSWEGO -- The Environment Report which airs weekday mornings on WRVO will be going away soon. "Due to a lack of sustainable funding," the station explains Friday, June 4 will be the final day for the daily reports. However, WRVO's newsroom says it's not completely abandoning environmental issues.
