SYRACUSE -- Longtime NewsChannel 2 (WKTV) anchor Bill Worden, who retired last November after 35 years with the Utica NBC affiliate, received the Syracuse Press Club's Career Achievement Award this past weekend. Thanks to one of his former co-workers, we've got a few photos to share.
SYRACUSE -- Gary Michaels and Galaxy Communications have parted ways, as the company continues its search for a permanent new PD / Brand Manager for classic rockers TK 99 and TK 105 (WTKW/WTKV). Michaels, who had been serving as midday host and Interim PD for the past few months, was relieved of his duties on Friday.
ITHACA/CORTLAND -- There's a new way to listen to progressive talk radio in the Ithaca area. The Cayuga Radio Group announced Progressive Talk 1470 WNYY is now being simulcast at 97.7FM. Group head Chet Osadchey says the new signal "adds greater coverage into downtown Ithaca, and on both the Cornell and Ithaca College campuses."
Updated 5/10/13 -- SYRACUSE -- The Syracuse Press Club reports three people are leaving local television newsrooms for new jobs. Two will be moving out-of-state for TV news positions in larger markets, while another will remain local, with a new job outside of broadcasting.
Updated 8:45am -- SYRACUSE -- Less than a week after it launched, it's already "game over" for online radio station Syracuse80sOnline.com. The all-80s stream, hosted by longtime Syracuse radio personalities Ron Bee and Dave Laird, suddenly disappeared on Tuesday, with no plans to return.
UTICA -- Just a few months shy of her second anniversary at NewsChannel 2 (WKTV), reporter Lexie O'Connor is packing her bags and moving north. Friday was O'Connor's last day with the NBC affiliate. She has accepted a new job with CBS affiliate WGME in Portland, Maine.

SYRACUSE -- Two longtime local radio legends are back in the biz, with help from a third former Syracuse radio talent. Dave Laird and Ron Bee are hosting shifts on Syracuse80sOnline.com, launched over the weekend by Rick "RJ" Jordan.
SYRACUSE -- Congratulations are in order for CNY Central Sports Director Niko Tamurian and Syracuse Woman Magazine Managing Editor Farah Jadran. Tamurian "popped the question" on stage during a packed charity fundraiser last week, and Jadran accepted his proposal.
UTICA-ROME -- Could the prolonged mystery surrounding the status of Rome's WKAL be reaching an end? The station -- which faced a May 7 deadline to begin broadcasting or lose its broadcast license -- appears to be up and running.
SYRACUSE -- Earlier this week, Arbitron released its Winter 2013 "topline" audience estimates for subscribing commercial radio stations in the Syracuse market. The initial report skips non-commercial stations, but Arbitron allows those numbers to be released -- a few days later -- by the Radio Research Consortium. And for this latest "book," Oswego-based WRVO was in front.
