TK99 and TK105 hires former 95X jock Alexis for nights

SYRACUSE -- Veteran local rock jock Alexis, who fell victim to budget cuts in 2009 after more than 15 years at 95X (WAQX) is making a return to the airwaves.  She's taking over the 7pm to midnight shift at Galaxy classic rock stations TK99 and TK 105 (WTKW/WTKV), the shift formerly held by Mimi Griswold, who recently retired after a 20-year run with Galaxy.

Arbitron releases Fall 2012 radio ratings for Syracuse

Updated 4:40pm -- SYRACUSE -- Arbitron has released its Fall 2012 ratings for the Syracuse radio market. At first glance, it appears Clear Channel has captured four of the top five spots in the rankings, but then there's the disclaimer: Arbitron continues to omit non-subscribing stations from the data it releases to the general public. But that "filtered" view is a little clearer this time for Syracuse, with Cumulus Media recently restoring Arbitron subscriptions for its four-station cluster.

Just two days shy of the station's first anniversary, afternoon host Dave Frisina has been promoted to Program Director. Don Imus out, Jim Rome in at The Score 1260

SYRACUSE -- There won't be any more "Imus in the Morning" on The Score 1260 (WSKO). The sports talk station is revamping its program schedule, effective Monday.  The new lineup reflects its affiliation with the newly-launched CBS Sports Radio network. Part of that lineup includes a sports talk host who started his career in Utica.

Galaxy CEO criticizes radio's downfalls in "Radio Ink" cover story

SYRACUSE -- Consolidation is always a controversial topic among broadcasters.  Galaxy CEO and President Ed Levine garnered plenty of praise this week when he criticized the overuse of the cost-cutting strategy, in an interview with Radio Ink, a national radio trade magazine.  In the article, he said consolidation is sending radio "backwards," as many owners overlook the potential rewards of localizing their stations.
