UTICA-ROME -- It's been a little over a year since former Utica-Rome sports radio host Adam "The Bull" Gerstenhaber started his current job at 92.3 The Fan in Cleveland. Gerstenhaber said he's really enjoying the job, in a recent interview with Don Laible of the Observer-Dispatch.

SYRACUSE -- Earlier this week, we shared with you the sad news of the passing of former radio station owner Albert "Bud" Wertheimer. Today, the family is announcing plans for a memorial service at Syracuse's Landmark Theater next week.

SYRACUSE -- Fifty years ago this September, "colorful channel 9" signed on the air for the very first time, from studios located at ShoppingTown Mall in DeWitt. To mark the occasion, the ABC affiliate is selling tickets for a "50th Anniversary Celebration" planned for next month at the SRC Arena in Syracuse.
SYRACUSE -- The former WTVH building on James Street has been on the market for nearly three and a half years. A giant, yellow "For Sale" sign is meant to attract would-be buyers, but instead, police say it recently attracted some copper pipe thieves.
ITHACA/CORTLAND -- If you thought you had a long week last week, try walking a mile in Chris Allinger's shoes. Or more like several dozen miles. The Q-Country 103.7 (WQNY) morning host spent the week walking to every single town in Tompkins County, collecting donations to help combat child hunger in the county. By the end of the week, he raised $15,800.
SYRACUSE -- New York State Broadcasters Association Hall of Famer Albert "Bud" Wertheimer, who founded The Lincoln Group, which once owned at least one radio station in Syracuse, has died. Wertheimer passed away on Friday at the age of 75 in Syracuse.
TULSA, OK -- More proof that broadcasting is a small world: two former Clear Channel Syracuse personalities have, by coincidence, started new radio jobs this year (though with different companies) in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
SYRACUSE -- They're one of the hottest acts in country music right now, and they've even had a few songs crossover to AC radio station playlists. The Band Perry is currently on tour, and plenty of fans from Syracuse made the trip, along with New Country WOLF 105.1, to see the trio play at a farm south of Utica earlier this month.
