UTICA-ROME -- If you're a fan of either country music or the Fox TV series "Glee," you're familiar with the Toby Keith song "Red Solo Cup." So it's only appropriate for Bug Country 99.7 and 101.1's Dave Silvers and his wife Sandy to be holding a couple of the famous cups when they met the superstar vocalist earlier this month.
SYRACUSE -- Jim Kenyon doesn't have skin cancer, but the reporter's recent close call with the disease was the basis for a two-part series which concluded on NBC3 (WSTM-TV) this evening . Kenyon says it all started with three tiny blemishes which wouldn't go away.
SYRACUSE -- There's still time, but not much, for alumni of Syracuse University student-operated WJPZ-FM to RSVP for the station's 27th Annual Birthday Banquet. The dinner is slated for March 3 at the SU Sheraton, and includes this year's inductions into the WJPZ Hall of Fame.
SYRACUSE -- It's a trip down memory lane with some of the biggest musicians in Syracuse history this Sunday. "The Wax Museum" on Love Radio WVOA 103.9/95.3/98.1 will devote all three hours of this week's show to music and live in-studio guests from groups like The Monterays, Stroke, The Madisons and more.
UTICA/ROME -- Several months after new owners took over WRUY 1450 in Rome, the station remains silent. The FCC originally issued a mid-January deadline for the station to resume broadcasting, but days before the deadline, the Commission approved a request to push the deadline out a few more months.
SYRACUSE -- Foiled again. Even though B104.7 (WBBS) was nominated in both radio categories for this year's Academy of Country Music Awards, the Clear Channel-owned country station came up short in both categories, losing to stations in Ohio, California and Florida.
ITHACA/CORTLAND -- The search is on for a new afternoon host at Q-Country 103.7 (WQNY), after Marty Brandon exited the station this week for new job outside of radio. That leaves Chris Allinger juggling existing talent while he screens candidates for Brandon's position and one other key vacancy in the Cayuga Radio Group cluster.
CENTRAL NEW YORK -- In various ways, radio stations (even some who don't normally play her music) went out of their way to respond to the death of singing superstar Whitney Houston. The winner of six Grammys and one Emmy (and more than 400 other awards) died at the age of 48 on Saturday night, casting a somber mood on Sunday night's Grammy Awards telecast.

UTICA -- After six years of climbing Smith Hill every morning while most of us sleep, WKTV morning co-anchor Megan Koskovich is leaving the NBC affiliate shortly after the current February sweeps period ends. She's making a rather big jump up the TV market ladder, but she likely won't be seen on-camera.
