SYRACUSE -- Foiled again. Even though B104.7 (WBBS) was nominated in both radio categories for this year's Academy of Country Music Awards, the Clear Channel-owned country station came up short in both categories, losing to stations in Ohio, California and Florida.
ITHACA/CORTLAND -- The search is on for a new afternoon host at Q-Country 103.7 (WQNY), after Marty Brandon exited the station this week for new job outside of radio. That leaves Chris Allinger juggling existing talent while he screens candidates for Brandon's position and one other key vacancy in the Cayuga Radio Group cluster.
CENTRAL NEW YORK -- In various ways, radio stations (even some who don't normally play her music) went out of their way to respond to the death of singing superstar Whitney Houston. The winner of six Grammys and one Emmy (and more than 400 other awards) died at the age of 48 on Saturday night, casting a somber mood on Sunday night's Grammy Awards telecast.

UTICA -- After six years of climbing Smith Hill every morning while most of us sleep, WKTV morning co-anchor Megan Koskovich is leaving the NBC affiliate shortly after the current February sweeps period ends. She's making a rather big jump up the TV market ladder, but she likely won't be seen on-camera.
SYRACUSE -- Following up to last week's "blast from the past" photo of the WTVH Newscenter 5 team, we have not one, but two more classic Syracuse TV news photos from the personal collection of longtime NewsChannel 9 anchor Rod Wood. We didn't see Rod in last week's photo (taken at least 20 years after Rod moved from channel 5 to channel 9) but you'll see him in both of this week's photos.
SYRACUSE -- NBC affiliate WSTM channel 3 will be going off the air overnight tonight, for what the station is calling "routine maintenance." According to CNYCentral.com, the outage, from 11:35pm tonight until 6:30am tomorrow, will only impact over-the-air viewers. Satellite, cable and fiberoptic viewers won't notice anything different.
SYRACUSE -- From country music, to rock, pop and now religious music... Dan Dunn has experience in a variety of radio formats. These days, he's at the Mars Hill Network (WMHR) and he's on the cover of the current edition of The Good News Paper, a Christian publication based in Syracuse. Dunn spoke with John Petrilli about his faith, his experience in radio, and how his current job combines the two.
SYRACUSE -- Clear Channel AC Y94FM (WYYY) and the Syracuse City School District are teaming up to salute teachers. Nominations are now being accepted for "31 Teachers, 31 Days." Each day in May, winners will be recognized online and on-air.
Updated 10:40am -- SYRACUSE -- It's a day many fans have been eagerly awaiting: Dave Frisina's first shift on 105.9 The Rebel (WXTL). The longtime local radio host begins his new weekday air shifts today and he'll be on the air for afternoon drive, 2-7pm.
