SYRACUSE — Congratulations to longtime local broadcast journalist Dave Bullard, who has exited his position as dayside assignment editor at ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) for a new venture.  He won’t be working for any local media outlets, but he’ll be working with them — all of them — at the New York State Fair.

SYRACUSE — Aside from an intense, soaking rain storm that moved along very quickly, it looks like it was a great time for everyone who took part in the 7th annual Bill Leaf Kickball Tournament, on September 22 in Liverpool.

SYRACUSE — Do you recognize the two broadcasters in this 1984 photo, taken inside 62-WHEN when it was located on Old Liverpool Road in Liverpool?  As of last year, they’re back in the same newsroom once again.  One more clue: one of these people had a birthday yesterday.

SYRACUSE — A handful of former Clear Channel Syracuse employees (mostly from WSYR radio) gathered for an impromptu “reunion” on New Year’s Eve.  We’ll borrow a phrase commonly used by one of the attendees to say the gathering took place at “an undisclosed location” within Onondaga County.

HAMDEN, CT — Two well-known local journalists who used to work at Syracuse CBS affiliate WTVH are featured in a new documentary about the television news business. The documentary was produced by two Quinnipiac University journalism professors. Shooting started in 2009, and the finished product just recently hit the web.

OSWEGO — You already read here about Dave Bullard’s recent move from WRVO to Syracuse ABC affiliate WSYR-TV. Now, we’ve learned a few others have recently exited the NPR affiliate on the SUNY Oswego campus.  The station’s GM confirms at least two others have left in what he’s termed a staffing “reset.”

SYRACUSE — Roughly three months after taking the helm of the WIBX 950 newsroom in Utica, Jules Thompson is trading in his News Director business cards for the chance to work closer to home.  He’s headed back to Syracuse, to become the nightside assignment editor for ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV).
