OHIO -- Peter C. Cavanaugh, a former radio executive whose career started in 1957 at Syracuse's WNDR when he was still in high school, has died. Word comes via public social media posts by family members, along with at least one radio station report from Flint, Michigan, where he spent most of his career.
SYRACUSE -- The recent death of longtime Syracuse broadcast journalist Dave White got one of his former colleagues thinking. Former 570 WSYR talk host Jim Reith took to Facebook to reminisce about how much the Syracuse news media scene has changed -- in not-so-good ways -- over the past few decades.
SYRACUSE -- Local broadcasters are mourning the death of one of their own tonight. Longtime radio and TV newsman Dave White passed away Monday at the age of 71. Younger journalists and audiences may recall White as the former media relations contact at SUNY-ESF.

OSWEGO -- The WRVO Stations are looking to expand their reach in the Ithaca and Cortland areas. This week, the FCC approved application permits for two new FM translators that would simulcast the WRVO signal from SUNY Oswego.
SYRACUSE -- Public broadcaster WCNY has announced a total of four job openings at its new facilities in the Near West Side neighborhood of Syracuse. The jobs include a program director for WCNY-FM, two positions in the television joint master control facility based at WCNY, and an account executive.
SYRACUSE -- Providing real-world experience that goes beyond textbooks and quizzes, many alumni of SU's Newhouse School would argue that student-run WJPZ radio is the "greatest media classroom." That's part of the title for a new documentary due to premiere in March.
