ABC Names David Muir Sole Weekend World News Anchor

NEW YORK CITY -- Syracuse native David Muir, who worked for five years at WTVH, has been named the sole anchor for the weekend editions of ABC's World News.  He had been previously anchoring on Sundays.  In addition to picking up Saturdays, ABC is renaming the newscasts World News with David Muir.

Unbuilt Little Falls Station to Move East

UTICA/ROME -- The company planning to build a new AM station licensed to serve Little Falls has filed paperwork with the FCC to move the station to a new location, southeast of the original tower site. As a result, it appears WKAJ 1120 will eventually sign-on with Saint Johnsville as it's community of license.

WICB in Running for mtvU Woodie Award

ITHACA -- Ithaca College's WICB won the very first "College Radio Woodie" at the mtvU Woodie Awards in 2008, and they're hoping to pull it off again this year.  WICB and three other local college stations made it into the top 25, but WICB is the lone local nominee to make it into the final round of ten.  WICB's fate will be determined by online voting.

Citadel and Cumulus in Merger Talks

LAS VEGAS, NV -- Citadel Broadcasting, the owner of four Syracuse market radio stations, announced Thursday that it is holding "exclusive negotiations for a potential merger with Cumulus Media Inc."  Cumulus, the second-largest radio operator in the nation, confirmed the news today.

92.7 The Drive Hires Starr and Hebbard; Tweaking Format

UTICA/ROME -- A month and a half after replacing local morning host Bill Keeler with the syndicated Bob and Tom Show, locally-owned 92.7 The Drive (WXUR) is making more big changes.  The station has hired veteran programmer Tom Starr and veteran sales manager Chuck Hebbard.  Changes to the station's rock format will take effect tomorrow afternoon.
