Syracuse Sportscaster Red Parton Dies

SYRACUSE -- Longtime sportscaster Claude "Red" Parton has died, according to a report from ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV).  Parton's career spanned more than six decades, starting with WSYR in 1939.  He'd eventually work at a number of other radio stations before moving into television.

Former Big Frog 104 DJ "Crickett" Dies

MEADVILLE, PA -- It is with sadness we report that former Big Frog 104 (WFRG) midday hostess Karie "Crickett" Shields has died.  According to a news report published yesterday, Shields was found dead Monday morning in a friend's home.  For the past ten years, Shields hosted middays at northwestern Pennsylvania's Froggy 100.3/98.5.

Stunt on MOViN? No, Just a Hiccup

SYRACUSE -- At least one CNYRadio.com reader noticed something strange on MOViN 100.3/96.5 (WMVN) this morning... the station was playing long dance mixes, and there were no jocks on the air during morning drive.  Worried the station may have been stunting for a format change, the reader asked us to look into it. This afternoon, PD Skip Clark tells CNYRadio.com it was simply "a technical issue, all is resolved." We thought we'd post a quick story for anyone else who was wondering what happened.
