NEW YORK CITY -- We're out of the market for our latest Picture of the Week, but both of the folks pictured at left are from Central New York, and they've both contributed a lot of time to the website you're reading right now. But what's more interesting: the chances of them running into each other for this picture: one in about 32,000.
SYRACUSE -- The New ESPN Radio (WTLA/WSGO and 97.7/100.1FM) will soon come through on its promise to expand upon locally-originated programming. Disturbing the Peace will air during afternoon drive, starting Monday, May 17. The show will be co-hosted primarily by Chris McManus and Anthony Riccobono.
SYRACUSE -- Longtime sportscaster Claude "Red" Parton has died, according to a report from ABC affiliate NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV). Parton's career spanned more than six decades, starting with WSYR in 1939. He'd eventually work at a number of other radio stations before moving into television.
MEADVILLE, PA -- It is with sadness we report that former Big Frog 104 (WFRG) midday hostess Karie "Crickett" Shields has died. According to a news report published yesterday, Shields was found dead Monday morning in a friend's home. For the past ten years, Shields hosted middays at northwestern Pennsylvania's Froggy 100.3/98.5.

SYRACUSE -- At least one CNYRadio.com reader noticed something strange on MOViN 100.3/96.5 (WMVN) this morning... the station was playing long dance mixes, and there were no jocks on the air during morning drive. Worried the station may have been stunting for a format change, the reader asked us to look into it. This afternoon, PD Skip Clark tells CNYRadio.com it was simply "a technical issue, all is resolved." We thought we'd post a quick story for anyone else who was wondering what happened.
CINCINNATI, OH -- Big changes at the home base of Regent Communications -- the company which owns four Utica-Rome radio stations is now called Townsquare Media. Additionally, two top members from Regent management have been replaced.
UTICA-ROME -- Observant CNYRadio.com readers report a slight format change at Regent's Oldiez 96 (WODZ). The station is now carrying the syndicated "True Oldies Channel" service, hosted by Scott Shannon.

SYRACUSE -- A little over two years (and four days, to be exact) after it was announced Citadel named Dan Austin as GM of the company's four-station Syracuse cluster, Austin is on the move once again. This time, he's headed to market #13: Seattle-Tacoma, Washington.
SYRACUSE -- Citadel CHR 93Q (WNTQ) has revealed the lineup of national recording acts set to perform at its second annual "Summer Jam on the Island" concert. The show is set for Monday, June 7th at Paper Mill Island in Baldwinsville... and just like last year, the tickets are free, but the only way to get 'em is to win 'em.
