An observant CNYRadio.com reader tipped us off to the blog of the famous Dr. Drew Pinsky, host of the popular Loveline show -- where Pinsky posted a picture from a recent meeting between himself and a former K-Rock (WKLL/WKRH/WKRL) personality.
OSWEGO -- WRVO is one of five public broadcasters chosen to take part in a "major journalism initiative" which will establish a new "Local Journalism Center" tasked with documenting technology's role in "rebuilding Upstate New York's economy." The initiative will fund the hiring of new reporters, a manager to coordinate the efforts, and an interactive web portal to accompany the effort.
SYRACUSE – The man behind the “CNY Latino” newspaper is looking to expand the offerings of Spanish-language radio programming in the area. But Hugo Acosta says he’s having a tough time finding stations to carry the new programs he’d like to produce.

WATERTOWN -- Broadcasters partnering with animal shelters is nothing new, but it's not every day you hear of a pet being named after a radio station. It's happened though -- a North Country dog adoption agency has named one of their pooches after Tunes 92-5 (WBLH). CINCINNATI, OH -- There are at least two notable objections to the prearranged Chapter 11 plans announced by Regent Communications earlier this month -- one from a shareholder and one from a U.S. trustee. Regent owns four stations in the Utica-Rome market.
Update 3/23: Report says U.S. trustee's objection has been dismissed.
SYRACUSE -- The WLTI call letters at 105.9 The Big Talker are history. Citadel Syracuse OM Tom Mitchell tells CNYRadio.com, effective today, the new call letters are WXTL. The new talk format launched on March 3, replacing Lite Rock 105.9.
