ITHACA -- At a time of the year when most student-run college stations are running on a skeleton crew and/or automation, students at Ithaca College's WICB are working as hard as ever, helping to raise record-breaking amounts of money for local charity.
ITHACA - They did it! Ithaca College's WICB has won mtvU's inaugural "Woodie" award for "Best College Radio Station." Through online voting, WICB beat out three other finalists for the award.
Here's some of the staff from WICB at Ithaca College, at the school's homecoming weekend back in September. Incidentally, today's the final day to cast your vote to help WICB win a national award.
WICB is in the running for cable network mtvU's "Woodie" award for Best College Radio Station. The Ithaca College station is one of four finalists in the country, and they'd appreciate your online votes to help them win.
UPDATED (1:05PM) - The 2008 New York State Broadcasters Association "Awards for Excellence in Broadcasting" have been unveiled. We now have a complete list of winners, and they include stations in all four markets we cover... for a total of 11 radio awards, and at least 2 TV awards for former radio reporters.
A handful of Central New York's radio newsrooms took home several titles from the New York State Associated Press Broadcasters Association Awards this past weekend in Saratoga Springs. In fact, the top award-winner was from CNYRadio.com territory.
