UTICA-ROME -- A family from the Town of Floyd says the new tower for God's Country 93.5 (WOKR) is so powerful, the audio comes through one of their TVs, even when the set is powered off. An engineering firm hired by the town says radiation levels are so high, it's dangerous anyone to be inside for more than 30 minutes a day.
SYRACUSE -- For the first time in years, you won't see 93Q (WNTQ) at this weekend's Syracuse Balloonfest. But they're OK with that -- because the Citadel CHR brought some top names to town last weekend for their very own "Summer Jam on the Island" concert last weekend, and they say it was a huge success.

AUBURN -- Finger Lakes News Radio has a part-time opening for a play-by-play announcer to cover various Auburn High School sports, starting this fall.
ONEIDA -- The sale of, as they legal ID themselves, "WMCR AM 1600 and FM 106.3 in Oneida, New York" is a done deal. After about 40 years of ownership, Vivian Warren has retired from the radio ownership game, nearly a million dollars richer.
SYRACUSE -- No, that's not a typo in the headline... Syracuse-based WRVD 90.3 FM will sign-off around 8:30 Saturday morning for some transmitter maintenance work. Fred Vigeant, program director for the WRVO Stations says the outage will last "throughout the day." Parent station WRVO/Oswego and siblings WRVN/Utica and WRVJ/Watertown will not be affected by the outage.
After 36 years, tomorrow's edition of Radio & Records will be the very last. The weekly trade newspaper's owner, Nielsen, made the announcement to staffers yesterday.
SYRACUSE -- It's not quite like before, but sidelined on-air personalities Mark Vanness and Big Jim Donovan are returning to the airwaves -- on different stations both in Syracuse -- and both on a part-time basis.

SYRACUSE -- Three Doors Down and Papa Roach are among what KROCK is calling the "strongest lineup the radio station has presented in its 14 years of putting on" the KROCKATHON. Tickets go on sale this Saturday, for the August 8th event, which will be hosted at the New York State Fairgrounds in the Syracuse suburb of Geddes.
