SYRACUSE — Sinclair Broadcast Group's CNY Central is looking for a news video editor. The cluster, consisting of NBC3 (WSTM), CBS 5 (WTVH) and CW6 (WSTM-DT 3.2) sends the following job posting to CNYRadio:
SYRACUSE -- Very sad news from NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) tonight. The ABC affiliate is reporting the death of longtime anchor Rod Wood, just a day after his 81st birthday. Click here for more details on LocalSYR.com.
SYRACUSE -- NewsChannel 9 (WSYR-TV) anchor Dan Cummings has held many titles at the ABC affiliate over the past 37 years. By the time we bid farewell to 2021, he'll assume a new title: retiree. Cummings announced his exit plans this week on The Morning News.
SYRACUSE - "And that's the latest from The Weather Outside." CNY Central Chief Meteorologist Wayne Mahar announced today he's getting ready to call it a career after 36 years of predicting local weather.
SYRACUSE -- The recent death of longtime Syracuse broadcast journalist Dave White got one of his former colleagues thinking. Former 570 WSYR talk host Jim Reith took to Facebook to reminisce about how much the Syracuse news media scene has changed -- in not-so-good ways -- over the past few decades.
SYRACUSE -- Local broadcasters are mourning the death of one of their own tonight. Longtime radio and TV newsman Dave White passed away Monday at the age of 71. Younger journalists and audiences may recall White as the former media relations contact at SUNY-ESF.
SYRACUSE -- Following the news that husband and wife Niko Tamurian and Farah Jadran are leaving CNYCentral, there's word on at least one replacement. The cluster housing NBC3 (WSTM), CBS5 (WTVH) and CW6 (WSTM-DT 3.2) says Tommy Sladek will take over as Sports Director. There's also more details on where Tamurian is headed next.
He'll be remembered by younger broadcasters as a professor at SUNY Oswego. Some may remember him from Syracuse's channel 9, when it was WNYS-TV.
